JOB TITLE:

SUMMARY:
Administers medication and coordinates medical needs of the Residents with physicians, Resident Care Director and family members. Observes, documents and reports significant changes in Residents' condition, recommending changes in care needs. Supervises Resident Care Assistants/Medication Assistants/Residential Services Coordinator/Unit Clerk, determines shift assignments, provides instruction to Resident Care staff and ensures care is provided as instructed.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
A. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of standard nursing practices, and state and local regulations is required. Knowledge of medical records maintenance and the ability to handle emergency situations calmly and competently are required. Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing is essential. Supervisory skills necessary. Requires frequent lifting, bending, stretching, and standing for long periods of time.
B. Education
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
C. Experience
One year prior clinical experience is preferred. Supervisory experience preferred.
D. Certificates/Licenses
Current LPN license in the state employed is required. CPR certification is
required.

POSITION SUMMARY
JOB TITLE:
Senior Living Director / Director of Resident Care Services
REPORTS TO:

DEPARTMENTAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Assisted Living / Resident Care
SUMMARY:
Responsible for planning, organizing and directing the overall operation of the Assisted Living Program/Resident Care Department in accordance with current state and local regulations, as well as with ICC policies and procedures. Assures that the care needs of all Residents are met and maintained according to physician orders and ICC standards. Participates in the interviewing and selection of residents for admission, and personnel for the Resident Care Department.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
A. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice, state and local regulations, and of common safety standards and precautions are required. The ability to manage and direct the resident care department. Knowledge of medical records documentation and the ability to handle emergency situations calmly and competently are required. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all residence personnel is essential. The ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing is required. May require frequent lifting, bending, stretching, and standing for long periods of time.
B. Education
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
C. Experience
Four or more years experience in the long-term care industry required, preferably in a managerial capacity.
D. Certificates/Licenses
Current RN or LPN license in the state employed is required. CPR certification required. Current driver's license in state employed is preferred. Personal Care Home Administrator (PCHA) license preferred. Must be willing to become licensed as a PCHA if not already holding a license.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

4. Participates in the interviewing and selection of Residents for admission.
5. Ensures admission assessments are complete and procures the Physician's Certification for personal care and physical exam prior to or upon admission to the residence.
6. Assists with resident admissions, transfers and discharges.
7. Oversees the ordering, controlling and distributing of medication.
8. Evaluates the effects of care delivered.
9. Observes and reports significant changes in Residents' condition, revising care plans as needed.
10. Integrates and coordinates care with other disciplines, including physicians.
11. Reviews and answers all Resident, family or employee concerns in a timely manner.
12. Interviews and selects resident care personnel.
13. Determines adequate staffing needs, develops a work schedule for resident care staff and performs weekly timekeeping duties.
14. Develops, implements and maintains an effective department orientation program.
15. Evaluates resident care staff to ensure care provided meets needs of Residents and standards of ICC.
16. Assists with the marketing of the residence as needed, providing tours to include an explanation of the admission procedure.
17. May act as Executive Director in absence of the Executive Director.
18. Conducts and/or attends required in-service training and orientations.
19. Assures Resident safety.
20. Ensures that staffing needs in each shift are met, working as the charge nurse or aid when and if needed.
21. Participates in manager-on-duty program.
22. Respects Residents’ rights, privacy and dignity.
23. Responds to Residents' needs.
