Vintage muscle cars have been a popular part of the Leonard Street Car Show over the years. Now known as the Leonard Street Car Cruise, the show will be held on May 21, 2023 at the Colonial Courtyard at Clearfield parking lot, raising money for the Alzheimer’s Association.
Senior living community to host Leonard Street Car Cruise
CLEARFIELD, Pa. – New name, same great four-wheel (or, two-wheel) tradition.
Colonial Courtyard at Clearfield will host the 13th Leonard Street Car Cruise on May 21 at the senior living community parking lot. The popular event previously had been named the Leonard Street Car Show, with multiple divisions of cars, trucks and motorcycles.
The new format doesn’t include divisions or judging of the vehicles. Prizes still will be presented throughout the event, which will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the lot at 1300 Leonard Street. Registration is $5 and all proceeds benefit the Alzheimer’s Association.
“We changed the name to ‘Car Cruise’ this year by request of past participants,” said Roberta “Bobbi” Bradford, Executive Operations Officer at Colonial Courtyard at Clearfield. “There will be no classes and no judging. The cars, trucks and motorcycles will be on display throughout the day.”
Last year, the show returned following a two-year hiatus resulting from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 65 vehicles participated and approximately $2,000 was raised to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association during the 2022 event.
“We are looking forward to our 13th year of hosting this event,” said Sandy English, Community Relations Director at Colonial Courtyard at Clearfield. “Our residents love to see all of the vehicles. People love to display their cars and trucks, and they appreciate how much attention the residents and others in attendance give to their cars.”
Colonial Courtyard at Clearfield has helped raise a combined $12,811.90 during the nine car and bike shows from 2012 to 2019 and again in 2022. That included five straight events of at least $1,000 collected for the Alzheimer’s Association. The most recent Leonard Street Car and Bike Shows held in 2019 and 2022 each raised $2,000, setting an impressive standard for the event.
Little Man Productions will provide musical entertainment and emcee the Car Cruise.
With a new name and slightly altered format, Bradford expects another successful event to raise money for an important cause.
“The Car Cruise will be a little different this year, as we always want to update and expand our participation and be more inclusive,” she said. “We anticipate a robust turnout which helps us raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association while having fun with our community.”
