Marshmallow Peeps Displays Delight Seniors, Raise Funds for Alzheimer’s Association
EASTON, Maryland – Candle Light Cove’s Peep Show and Spring Festival have grown into a popular tradition that brings joy to senior living residents while fostering connections with community partners throughout the Eastern Shore region.
The sixth annual Peep Show invites participants to submit their creative marshmallow masterpieces between March 31 and April 4 at Candle Light Cove, 106 West Earle Avenue in Easton. Residents and community members may cast their votes on the displays made using the iconic Easter treat marshmallow Peeps during the Spring Festival from 2 to 4 p.m. on April 5.
“Each year, the Peep Show gets better and better,” said Grace Lyons, Community Relations Director at Candle Light Cove. “It’s evolved over the years since our first Peep Show in 2018. Back then, it was a somewhat quirky and fun event. Now, the Peep Show has really caught on.”
“The pandemic canceled one year, but we’ve come back stronger with some incredibly creative entries,” Lyons said. “As the Peep Show gained popularity, we incorporated the Spring Festival, so both the people in our building and throughout the area may participate.”
Attendees have an opportunity to vote for their favorite Peep Show entries, which in past years have included displays such as 2024 first-place “Candle Light Cove Retreat” made by senior living residents, and second-place “Barbie Peepland” by Home Instead.
Other popular past entries included “Let’s Go O’s,” a tribute to the Baltimore Orioles by Cason and Caden Correa; “Lady Peeps Beach Day” by Harbor Dental Center; “Oopsie Daisie! I Wet My Plants” by Critchlow Adkins Children’s Center White Marsh location; and “Five Little Peeps Jumping on the Bed” by Eileen DeAtlev.
The $5 contest entry fee and other proceeds of the Spring Festival/Peep Show will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association. The Spring Festival will include local vendor booths, food trucks and an appearance by the Easter Bunny. Paper & Pop Balloon Company will donate decorative balloons to the event. Fraise’s Meet Shack will provide pit beef sandwiches, a regional favorite.
Entries may be dropped off at Candle Light Cove from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 31 to April 4.
“The Peep Show brings out creativity and brings our community together,” said Steven Schuyler, Executive Operations Officer at Candle Light Cove. “Plus, we have an opportunity to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Association.”
