Upgrades modernize living spaces, add specialized memory care and high-acuity programs

WALLINGFORD, Pa. — Nearly $1 million in renovations and upgrades are bringing new programs and modernized living spaces to the Chestnut Ridge Wallingford senior living community.

The project, completed in March, included renovations on five floors of the building and the addition of two specialized care programs through management by IntegraCare — LifeStories memory care and LifeBridges high-acuity assisted living.

The improvements modernize apartments and expand care options while strengthening the continuum of services available to residents, according to Loriann Putzier, a representative of the building owner and co-founder of IntegraCare, which manages 17 senior living communities in three states.

“We have transformed the community to meet the evolving vision of today’s senior living,” Putzier said.

The renovations created dedicated neighborhoods for both LifeStories and LifeBridges.

LifeStories is a secured memory care neighborhood designed to keep residents engaged through activity stations and interactive art installations along the walls. The neighborhood features its own dining room.

LifeBridges includes a dedicated dining area and “dining with dignity” program focused on how meals are prepared and served to residents with higher care needs, Putzier said. The LifeBridges neighborhood includes its own spa.

“At the heart of these upgrades is the resident experience,” said Selena Cheng, Executive Operations Officer at Chestnut Ridge Wallingford. “We’ve created spaces that are not only updated and welcoming, but also thoughtfully designed to support how our residents live, connect and receive care every day. These enhancements also bring a renewed sense of pride and energy to our team, strengthening the environment in which they provide care.

“This is about more than aesthetics,” Cheng said. “It reflects a commitment to providing innovative care in an environment that feels current, supportive and truly like home.”

The upgrades reflect a broader effort to modernize the community while positioning it competitively in the senior living market.

“This is exciting,” Putzier said. “There is always something new emerging, and how you continue to evolve and enhance the experience is what makes the difference.”

The strategy included placing the community under IntegraCare’s experienced management. “It’s about confidence in the team leading the community each day,” Putzier said.

With the renovations complete, Chestnut Ridge Wallingford now offers a full continuum of care designed to meet residents’ needs as they change over time.

“From independent living to assisted living, as well as high-acuity support with LifeBridges and memory care with LifeStories, residents can find the level of care they need in one community,” Putzier said.

The expanded options are appealing to both residents and their families.

“It resonates with residents and their adult children,” Putzier said. “This is bringing the IntegraCare program, which is proven and successful, to the community.”

The building’s fresh look includes new furniture and other amenities.

“Our recent renovations have brought a fresh, updated feel to our senior living community through the addition of new, comfortable furniture,” Cheng said. “These updates have created more inviting and functional spaces for residents to relax and enjoy their day-to-day activities.

“Families visiting their loved ones can now gather in settings that feel more welcoming and up to date, enhancing their time together,” she added. “At the same time, caregivers benefit from improved, more practical furnishings that support their daily routines. While simple, these thoughtful updates have made a meaningful difference, creating a better overall environment for everyone in our community.”

Current residents appreciated the upgrades.

“Since the renovations, it truly feels like a brand-new home,” said one resident who has been part of the senior living community for three years. “Everything is so bright and welcoming. It lifts my spirits every day. I’m so proud to live here.”

Another resident appreciated the upgrades she’s seen during the past year. “The renovations didn’t just change the space, they changed how it feels,” she said. “I feel comfortable, cared for and right at home.”

The investment represents more than a physical transformation. It reflects a renewed commitment to providing comfort, connection and a full continuum of care that allows residents to remain in a place they call home as their needs evolve.
