EXTON, Pa. – Exton Senior Living earned IntegraCare’s Gold Level Award for its prompt handling of residents’ callbell requests during the fourth quarter of 2024.
When a resident needs assistance, whether it’s for routine help or an emergency, they can push a pendant they carry on them. During the quarter, the Exton Senior Living team responded in person to each call in an average of 2 minutes, 1 seconds to attain Gold Level status for a third consecutive quarter.
The callbell systems handle more than potential crisis situations. The callbell also is the residents’ connection to the team for assistance with more routine needs.
“Callbells aren’t just about emergencies,” said Larry Rouvelas, CEO of IntegraCare. “They are for a wide variety of daily needs ranging from dressing, moving from place to place, or even getting a glass of water. We encourage our residents to ring the callbell when they need us.”
“Exton’s assisted living and personal care residents rang the callbell 81 times per day, on average, and the team answered those calls quickly and reliably,” Rouvelas said. “Our communities offer an enjoyable quality of life, and when you need help, we’ll be there for you. Few things deliver on that promise more vividly than, when a resident pushes a call button for help, that we respond quickly and reliably. It’s about resident safety. And it’s about resident respect.”
A recent U.S. News & World Report survey highlighted this commitment to respect and responsiveness. As part of its annual Best of Senior Living recognition, the renowned publication gathered insights from residents and family members across 3,500 senior living communities nationwide, including 17 IntegraCare communities. The feedback underscored the dedication to quality care and the peace of mind that comes from knowing help is always within reach.
“I believe that Exton Senior Living is one of the better Assisted Living communities,” Irene, the daughter of a resident, responded in the U.S. News survey. “My mother has dementia and is being well-cared for in LifeStories. One person who is the driving force of the unit is (LifeStories Director) Ana Dasilva. Empathy is a key component, and Ana and the others have that.”
Patrick, whose mother is an Exton Senior Living resident, had a similar survey response. “I love the team at Exton Senior Living,” he said. “I’m always amazed at what they do in Memory Care. I know that my mom is cared for and appreciated.”
The community wants its families to know its callbell response performance. So, it posts on its website a daily update: Yesterday’s Callbell Response Times.
