BUTLER, Pa. — When Clare Twentier first walked through the doors of Newhaven Court at Clearview five years ago, she was a 19-year-old with a big heart and no healthcare experience — just a desire to help others during one of the most uncertain times in modern history.
“I was 19 years old, right at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Twentier recalled. “It was a really sad time in the world and a lot of these seniors’ lives. But knowing I could go to work and help be a bright light in their lives during such a dark time was really impactful to me.”
That compassion and commitment set her on a path of remarkable growth. A 2019 graduate of Butler High School, Twentier began her career at the senior living community as a Resident Wellness Associate. Over the years, she advanced to medication associate, then charge medication associate. Now, she steps into her newest role as charge nurse after graduating from Lenape Practical Nursing in October and earning her LPN license.
“Clare has been with us for five years and has shown such significant growth,” said Krystle Pry, Executive Operations Officer at Newhaven Court at Clearview. “We are so proud of her and her recent accomplishments. She was our 2024 Direct Care Staff Worker of the Year for the Butler County Healthcare Consortium.”
Pry served as Resident Wellness Director when Twentier joined the Newhaven Court at Clearview team. She remembers Twentier’s resilience and dedication during the early days of the pandemic. “We all know what a challenge that time was,” Pry said. “With no prior experience, Clare took it in stride and played a crucial role in assisting in our Red Zones during the pandemic.”
Twentier credits the leadership and mentorship she received at Newhaven Court at Clearview as a driving force in her professional journey.
“Krystle Pry and a lot of nurses and medication associates were always a huge inspiration to me,” she said. “Seeing the way Krystle cares for the residents and her work ethic was impactful. She made such an impression. I was always motivated to do more and asked myself, ‘How can I do better?’”
For Twentier, nursing is more than a career.
“I always knew I had a calling to be a nurse, but my job at Newhaven Court solidified my decision,” she said. “It’s a very self-rewarding job knowing I make a difference in other people’s lives.”
As she takes on her new role, Twentier is proud to continue serving the senior living community that helped shape her.
“Newhaven Court at Clearview has always been my home away from home,” she said. “The residents and staff members feel like my second family. Newhaven Court will always hold a special place in my heart. The team truly cares to better the lives of our residents every day.”
