Magnolias of Lancaster will hold its third Marshmallow Peep Show on March 28. Last year, a second-grade student’s diorama portraying astronaut Neil Peep-Strong placed first, while a Peep Fairy Town display brought a variety of color to the senior living community.

LANCASTER, Pa. — Springtime excitement is blooming at Magnolias of Lancaster with the return of its annual Marshmallow Peep Show and Diorama Contest on Saturday, March 28.

The event, held at 1870 Rohrerstown Road, invites families, friends and community members to let their creativity shine using colorful marshmallow Peeps. Participants can recreate favorite books, movies, historical moments, sporting events or even craft entirely original scenes in this fun, family-friendly contest.

“This is our third year of hosting the Peep Show,” said Diana Teijaro, LifeStories Director at Magnolias of Lancaster. “The initial year, we only had team members and our residents compete for a gift card. It was so popular, we invited the local elementary school children and gave away Easter Peep-themed gifts during Year 2.”

Now in its third year, the event has grown to welcome outside referral sources as well as families of residents and team members.

“All of those who attend will have an opportunity to vote on the entries,” Teijaro said. “We’ve also set up a Peep Show Photo Booth, Peep-themed coloring crafts for the kids, and an entertainer will perform. It should really be fun.”

Magnolias of Lancaster Dining Experience Director Nate Truitt and his team will provide refreshments during the Peep Show.

According to Sarah Lanza, Administrative Services Director at the senior living community, events such as this are especially meaningful for memory care residents.

“Participating in creative, hands-on activities keeps our residents engaged and promotes social interaction, cognitive stimulation and a sense of accomplishment,” Lanza said. “Even residents who may have memory challenges can enjoy observing the dioramas, voting on favorites and celebrating the creativity of our community.”

Families and community members are encouraged to RSVP with Magnolias of Lancaster Community Relations Director Morgan Wilt by March 20 by calling 717.333.0394, or email at [email protected].
