Event Brings Residents Together While Benefiting Humane Society, Alzheimer’s Association
BUTLER, Pa. — Newhaven Court at Clearview will be full of wagging tails, costumes and pet tricks when the senior living community’s Dog Show takes place on Wednesday, Aug. 27.
Families, residents, team members and neighbors from the outside senior community at 100 Newhaven Lane in Butler are invited to bring their pets to compete in categories such as Best in Show, Best Costume and Best Trick. Guests will also enjoy refreshments, raffles and plenty of dog treats.
While the 2 p.m. event focuses on fun, it also supports two meaningful causes.
Throughout August, Newhaven Court collected donations of pet food for the Butler County Humane Society, filling three carts to help stock the shelter’s food bank. In addition, the registration donation fees for the furry contestants will go toward Newhaven Court at Clearview’s monthly contribution to the Alzheimer’s Association.
“Our families and team members here always enjoy any chance to bring their dogs to Newhaven Court at Clearview, especially for the Dog Show,” said Tracy Fencil, Community Relations Director and one of the event organizers. “Everyone loves seeing all the different breeds, sizes and most of all, the tricks and costumes. Every dog leaves our show with a bag full of treats, and winners take home a gift basket and award.”
Fencil noted it’s not too late to register a dog for the show. Call 724-477-8701.
The joy of the event reaches far beyond the dogs themselves, bringing smiles and uplifting spirits among residents and staff at Newhaven Court at Clearview.
“Our team members are proud to show off their four-legged family members,” said Krystle Pry, Executive Operations Officer at Newhaven Court at Clearview. “The dogs seem to love interacting and playing, and our residents just love to be a part of the show.”
Filled with laughter, applause and plenty of tail-wagging, the Dog Show has grown into a cherished tradition at Newhaven Court at Clearview — one that Fencil helped revive last year after several years away.
“The Dog Show brings together residents, families and the community, while raising awareness and support for causes that matter,” Fencil said.
