Greensburg Senior Living Community Answered Residents’ Callbells on Average 2-Minutes, 48-Seconds
GREENSBURG, Pa. – Newhaven Court at Lindwood’s prompt handling of callbells earned it IntegraCare’s Silver Level Award in the first quarter of 2024.
When a resident needs assistance, whether it’s for routine help or an emergency, they can push a pendant they carry on them. During the quarter, the Lindwood team responded in person to each call in an average 2 minutes, 48 seconds.
“Answering the callbell quickly and reliably is a standard that our team takes to heart,” said Newhaven Court at Lindwood Executive Operations Officer Lori Grant. “When a resident calls, we are there for them.”
“When a resident moves into one of our communities, we make a core promise,” said Larry Rouvelas, Chief Executive Officer of Pennsylvania-based IntegraCare, which operates Newhaven Court at Lindwood. “Yes, we’ll offer an enjoyable quality-of-life. And, when you need help, we’ll be there for you.”
Grant praised her team’s commitment to assisting the residents, and especially pointed to the work of Resident Wellness Director Lindsey Huggins.
“I am so proud of the Wellness team,” Grant said. “The department is highly engaged with all we are trying to accomplish for our residents. They are here for the right reasons, and their love and compassion for those they care for is evident in their work and interactions. I am beyond proud of Lindsey for her determination. She is laser-focused on the care each resident receives and only wants them to receive the very best. Because of her focus and leadership, her department is determined as well.”
Huggins said the Lindwood Wellness team works together to put the residents’ needs first.
“My staff is not only hardworking and dedicated, but they are also compassionate and kind,” Huggins said. “They have worked so hard to ensure that callbell requests were answered promptly. They are a highly motivated group of individuals who ensure that our residents receive excellent care in a timely manner.”
When the callbell rings, the team springs into action, with most calls answered in fewer than 3 minutes. The community wants its families to know every day its callbell response performance. So it posts on its website a daily update: Yesterday’s Callbell Response Times. “Families should have peace-of-mind that, when their loved one needs help, we’re there quickly and reliably,” Rouvelas said.
“My team’s quick response when a resident presses their callbell has led to better resident outcomes,” Huggins said. “The dedication that my team displays on a daily basis is impressive and it is an honor to be their leader.”
The callbell system isn’t only about emergencies. The Lindwood team responds to wide range of the residents’ daily needs, such as dressing, moving from place-to-place or even getting a glass of water.
“A senior living community should be beautiful, yes. But more importantly, when you need help it should be there for you, quickly and reliably,” Rouvelas said. “The seniors at Newhaven Court at Lindwood get that every day.”
“Great care is built upon a capable team and strong systems. Newhaven Court at Lindwood has both,” Rouvelas added.
