Magnolias of Chambersburg will hold its second Peep Show, accepting entries from March 18-22. Last year’s inaugural event was a success with entries such as the 2023 first-place winner featuring Peeps roasting marshmallows around a campfire, an entry depicting a Marshmallow Beach, and a display of a Peep catching a fish in a creek.
Senior Living Community Event to Benefit Little Daisy’s Closet
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Call it an imaginative and tasty encore. Magnolias of Chambersburg will hold its second annual Peep Show this month at the senior living community at 745 Norland Avenue.
The Peep Show is a creative contest in which participants use the iconic Easter-themed marshmallow treats known as Peeps to assemble a sculpture, mosaic, diorama or other type of visual art. This year, the contest’s $10 entry fee will benefit Little Daisy’s Closet, a local Christian-based community outreach program.
“Last year was our first year of the Peep Show, and we have looked forward to increasing participation for this year’s contest ever since,” said Alyssa Kisner, Community Relations Director at Magnolias of Chambersburg. “The inaugural event was a lot of fun and we received great feedback. The residents and families loved the Peep Show.”
“This year we are working with Little Daisy’s Closet, a no-cost clothing ministry that helps people throughout our region,” Kisner added. “We have had donation drives in the past to benefit this great organization.”
Magnolias of Chambersburg will accept Peep Show contest entries from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from March 18 to 23. In-person voting on the entries will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on March 22 and from 10 to 11 a.m. on March 23.
The top-three Peep Show winners will be announced as part of the “Peeples Choice Awards” held in conjunction with Magnolias of Chambersburg’s annual Easter Egg Hunt that begins at 11:30 a.m. on March 23. Easter Egg Hunt attendees will have an opportunity to vote prior to the free event.
“The Peep Show will be a great team-building experience for church groups, Girl Scouts troops, civic organizations, businesses, offices, individuals or even an after-school event to keep kids off their telephones for a little bit,” said John McCrae, co-founder of Little Daisy’s Closet with his wife Kathy McCrae.
Magnolias of Chambersburg Executive Operations Officer Kristine Wenrick said the senior living community hopes to build on the Peep Show tradition.
“The first Peep Show last year was a fun event for our senior residents and their family members as well as the people who created entries,” Wenrick said. “This year we’ll also be helping a great organization, Little Daisy’s Closet. We can’t wait to see the creative and imaginative works of Peep Show art.”
