Queenstown Landing senior living community recently added 17 new assisted living apartments to the original building through a year-long renovation project. An activities center and additional dining and living room space were among the new amenities.
New Additions, Seamless Integration Amplify Award-Winning Care for Queen Anne’s County Seniors
QUEENSTOWN, Md. – Over the past year, the Queenstown Landing senior living community underwent a transformation that enhanced the lives of current residents and provided Queen Anne’s County and the surrounding region additional assisted living options.
The project included 17 new assisted living apartments, as well as an activities center and living room area. The new additions are seamlessly connected to the original Queenstown Landing building.
“Construction has been completed and it looks beautiful,” said Kelly Johnson, Area General Manager of IntegraCare, which operates Queenstown Landing. “We added 17 apartments to our Assisted Living, which includes four two-bedroom suites for those looking for more room. There was also a second activities space added, extra dining room space that views the courtyard and a lovely sitting area and living room. We are so excited to offer even more space to the seniors in our area to enjoy and cannot wait to welcome them home.”
Residents began moving into the new apartments in early November.
“The new apartments and activity center are an extension of the thoughtfully designed features and amenities that already existed in our community. It’s all connected,” said Rebecca Kennedy, Executive Operations Officer at Queenstown Landing. “These new assisted living apartments will complement the original state-of-the-art community. Our team is excited to continue to provide our current and future residents with IntegraCare’s award-winning care.”
Four two-bedroom apartments will be among the 17 new units. The others will be one-bedroom apartments and studios. The activities suite and a theater will give residents plenty of entertainment options. The dining area has been expanded. A fully enclosed courtyard and an additional living room area are among the amenities.
“The new activities room has an oven and a refrigerator and people can bake and cook there. The residents can play games or enjoy doing crafts,” said Kathy Stanfield, Community Relations Director at Queenstown Landing. “The original activities room is now the theater room, which features a dropdown theater screen to watch movies, football games or the residents’ favorite television shows.
“The new area and original building are connected by an inner courtyard,” Stanfield said. “Residents can move through the courtyard from one space to the other. It’s just one continuous square.”
The original Queenstown Landing opened in March 2021. In less than three years, the senior living community has been part of significant positive changes.
“We can offer multiple activities simultaneously with our new spaces,” Kennedy said. “By increasing our number of apartments, we will be able to offer availability to more prospective residents. We’ve had a waiting list just to move into the new apartments for over a year. To be able to open the expansion means we can safely move in everyone on the current wait list.”
Queenstown Landing has more than 50 team members who improve the residents’ lives. Kennedy said the team is poised to expand now that the additional apartments are in place.
“Our residents eagerly watched the building go up throughout the process,” Stanfield said. “They were so excited to see the new addition and were amazed at how seamless the construction is, connecting the hallways between the original and new structures. They even say how it feels almost like an optical illusion when they go through the double doors into the new halls.”
Kennedy agreed that the blending of the existing and new building is a crowning achievement of the entire project.
“The continuity between the original building and the expansion is impressive,” Kennedy said. “You don’t know you’ve walked into a different part of the building. It’s completely consistent with the original building, which speaks to how well the original building has held up and been maintained.”
A reception was held for current residents to see the new building in mid-October.
“We wanted them to be the first to experience the new space,” Stanfield said. “Several of our residents who were in our original wing have since moved over to the new section.”
Queenstown Landing provides state-of-the-art assisted living and memory care. US News & World Report recognized Queenstown Landing as a Best Assisted Living community in 2023-24, and the community also received status as a Great Place to Work in 2023
