Queenstown Landing resident celebrates milestone with family, ‘sweet treats’
QUEENSTOWN, Maryland – The menu at Queenstown Landing senior living community included plenty of cupcakes on July 3.
Resident Anne Driscoll celebrated her 100th birthday with family, fellow residents and team members at Queenstown Landing.
“She asked her family to bring 100 cupcakes so that Anne could share her big day with everyone,” said Katherine Stanfield, Community Relations Director at Queenstown Landing.
“Anne is an amazing person and inspires us all with her humor and kind nature,” Stanfield said. “She still walks the community daily and attends exercise and social events.”
Driscoll was born on July 3, 1924 in Binghamton, New York, and grew up there with her three brothers. She attended Catholic University and studied nursing. At college, Driscoll met her future husband, Kenneth.
The couple married and had seven children — six daughters and a son. Six of those children survive and remain a big part of her life. Her family attended a party held at Queenstown Landing and later took mom to a birthday dinner at a local restaurant. Her husband passed away in 2001.
A nurse for the Veterans Administration while also raising a family, Driscoll’s “‘can-do’ attitude and Catholic faith nourished her throughout the years,” Stanfield said.
Driscoll became a part of the Queenstown Landing senior living community earlier this year after previously residing with family in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
“It’s a testament to Anne’s spirit that all six of her children regularly visit and check in,” Stanfield said. “They adore her and so do we. We are fortunate to have Anne with us.”
