Golf scramble, Wristband Sales and Celebrity Bartending Fundraisers Fuel Drive
ERIE, Pa. — The Residence at Presque Isle Bay senior living community turned compassion into action, raising an impressive $8,629.33 for the Alzheimer’s Association this year.
The community’s team ranked third in the Erie Walk to End Alzheimer’s fundraising leaderboard and topped all IntegraCare communities.
“Every contribution, large or small, brings us one step closer to advancing research, care and support for individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s disease,” said Nathan Maietta, Executive Operations Officer at The Residence at Presque Isle Bay.
The signature event was the “Swing for a Cure” Golf Scramble, held September 10 at Beechview Golf Club. “Swing for a Cure” raised more than $5,000 toward the community’s overall total. Hosted by the leadership team, the scramble brought together families, friends, and supporters for a day of fun on the course with a meaningful purpose.
“Despite having only six weeks to plan, our team worked tirelessly to bring Swing for a Cure to life,” said Linsley Wybiral, Community Relations Director at the senior living community. “From organizing sponsors and players to arranging logistics, every detail was thoughtfully executed to ensure a successful day.”
Mother Nature cooperated, as golfers, volunteers and organizers basked in sunshine and comfortable fall temperatures
“The positive energy and support throughout the day made the event both enjoyable and impactful,” Wybiral said, noting the team hopes to make the golf outing an annual event. “The success of Swing for a Cure demonstrates what’s possible when people rally together for an important cause. It was not only a fundraiser, but also a celebration of community, teamwork and compassion.”
Other fundraisers throughout the year also contributed to the total, including wristband sales for awareness at the senior living community’s front desk and a celebrity bartending event led by team members Wybiral and LifeStages Director Gabby Lee.
“Families of residents supported the effort generously, especially through donations tied to the golf scramble and wristband campaign,” Lee said.
Excitement for the cause was felt across the community.
“This was the first year our team raised money for the Alzheimer’s Association, and all of our supervisors were overly excited,” Maietta said. “Because we have a Secured Dementia Neighborhood, it was important to us to make a difference. Supporting research, education, and care is deeply personal here.”
Residents and families also shared in the experience, many taking part in events and cheering on the team’s success. The momentum built throughout the year led up to the Walk to End Alzheimer’s on September 20, where all funds raised had already been donated in advance.
For IntegraCare Area General Manager Gary Renwick, the results speak volumes. “The leadership team’s golf scramble was a huge success, raising over $5,000 in one day,” he said. “When combined with the year’s other fundraisers, the team raised more than $8,000, putting them at the top of area donors. This is a tremendous success and a powerful way to show the community’s commitment to such a meaningful cause.”
Looking ahead to 2026, the Presque Isle Bay team carries forward a growing spirit of generosity and determination to end Alzheimer’s.
“Raising over $5,000 in just one event shows the generosity of our community and the shared commitment to supporting those impacted by Alzheimer’s,” Wybiral said. “The other fundraisers made this an ongoing, year-long effort. This dollar amount represents more than just funds. It represents hope, awareness and the power of coming together for a cause that touches so many families.”
