TYRONE, Pa. – Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone earned IntegraCare’s Silver Level Award for its prompt handling of residents’ callbell requests during the fourth quarter of 2024.
When a resident needs assistance, whether it’s for routine help or an emergency, they can push a pendant they carry on them. During the quarter, Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone’s team responded in person to each call in an average of 2 minutes, 6 seconds to attain Silver Level status for a second consecutive quarter.
The callbell systems handle more than potential crisis situations. They’re also the residents’ connection to the team for help with more routine needs.
“Callbells aren’t just about emergencies,” said Larry Rouvelas, CEO of IntegraCare. “They are for a wide variety of daily needs ranging from dressing, moving from place to place, or even getting a glass of water. We encourage our residents to ring the callbell when they need us.”
“Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone Assisted Living and Personal Care residents rang the callbell 94 times per day, on average, and the team answered those calls quickly and reliably,” Rouvelas said. “Our communities offer an enjoyable quality of life, and when you need help, we’ll be there for you. Few things deliver on that promise more vividly than, when a resident pushes a call button for help, that we respond quickly and reliably. It’s about resident safety. And it’s about resident respect.”
A recent U.S. News & World Report survey highlighted this commitment to respect and responsiveness. As part of its annual Best of Senior Living recognition, the renowned publication gathered insights from residents and family members across 3,500 senior living communities nationwide, including 17 IntegraCare communities. Their feedback underscored the dedication to quality care and the peace of mind that comes from knowing help is always within reach.
“This place is a gem,” said Tammy, the daughter of a resident, in the U.S. News survey. “Mom was welcomed. They made the move-in as easy as could be. The employees make it special. They have true caring and compassion.
“The size is just right for ease of adjustment for someone starting to have some cognitive issues,” Tammy continued. “The other residents also were so welcoming and they looked out for each other. Honestly, like a family sharing a home. It is so well run it should be used as a model.”
The community wants its families to know its callbell response performance. So, it posts on its website a daily update: Yesterday’s Callbell Response Times.
