14 Local Vendors, Talbot Humane Society, Santa Highlight Dec. 8 Event
EASTON, Maryland – Each holiday season, Christmas at the Cove brings smiles to the faces of residents and the spirit of the holidays to Candle Light Cove.
The annual inter-generational event — which will be held on Dec. 8 at the senior living community at 106 West Earle Ave. in Easton — sometimes has an even greater impact on residents.
Candle Light Cove Community Relations Director Grace Lyons recalled an especially moving moment last year, when a memory care resident reacted to meeting Santa Claus by singing “Jingle Bells,” from beginning to end.
“It was amazing,” Lyons said. “She was mostly non-verbal. She rarely spoke or had conversations. But she sang the whole song and it changed her whole day. When Santa walks through the entire building and visits all the residents, it definitely has a profound impact on the residents and makes a much greater impact than we might expect.”
The year, Christmas at the Cove will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., with 14 vendors participating in the event that brings together grandchildren and great-grandchildren of residents as well as children of Candle Light Cove team members.
Among the amenities will be a hot cocoa bar, an ornament-making station and the popular “visit with Santa Claus” from 3 to 4 p.m.
Mrs. Claus and Santa Claus shared a moment with William Lyons, 6, and Charlie Lyons, 3, during the 2023 Christmas at the Cove event. Candle Light Cove again will host Christmas at the Cove on Dec. 8 at the senior living community in Easton, Maryland.
Local vendors will offer a variety of items and products such as crafts, make-up, shirts, mugs, handmade soap, baked goods, jewelry, embroidered items, wreaths, adult/baby bibs, wood items, ornaments and scarves.
“The response from vendors has been excellent,” Lyons said. “We have some returning vendors and a lot of new ones this year. There are a few vendors that also do our spring festival. They create relationships with our team members and residents.
Talbot Humane Society will participate. Saltwater & Grace Photography will offer photographs with Santa at no cost. Paper & Pop Balloon Company will provide custom balloon decorations for the event.
“The residents love to see children,” Lyons said. “This is a good opportunity for them to have their grandchildren or great-grandchildren come out as well as other children in the community at large.
“The Christmas at the Cove also provides the residents with an opportunity to do some holiday shopping for unique and personalized gifts from local vendors,” she said.
