From Tour Guide to Healthcare Leader: Seth Wirekoh’s Journey to Senior Care Excellence
Great Falls Senior Living Community’s New EOO Emphasizes ‘Resident-Centered Care’
GREAT FALLS, Va. — Early in his career as a young tour coordinator, Seth Wirekoh connected with travelers and tourists to create memorable experiences while planning, organizing and managing their adventures in a bustling city.
Though his path has changed, his passion for connection and service remains the same. Now, as the new Executive Operations Officer at The Residence at Colvin Run, Wirekoh brings 20 years of healthcare experience — including 15 years as a director of nursing — to lead with a resident-centered approach at the IntegraCare senior living community in Great Falls.
“Resident-centered care is essential to me because it ensures that healthcare is compassionate, individualized and focused on the unique needs of each resident,” Wirekoh said. “My experience as an RN and director of nursing has deepened my understanding of this approach, showing me that the best outcomes occur when patients – and, now, residents — feel heard, respected and actively involved in their care.”
Throughout his career, Wirekoh’s experience across various healthcare settings has allowed him to develop a diverse skill set in clinical management, staff development and strategic planning. His ability to create and implement effective care programs has earned him recognition as a leader who prioritizes both the well-being of residents and the professional growth of his team.
“Leading teams in various healthcare settings has reinforced the importance of empathy, collaboration and advocacy in delivering high-quality care,” Wirekoh said. “By fostering a culture where the individual’s preferences and dignity are prioritized, I have seen firsthand how this approach not only improves health outcomes but also strengthens trust and satisfaction among residents and their families.”
Wirekoh has made an immediate impact at the 62-unit senior living community located at 1131 Walker Road in Great Falls. The Residence at Colvin Run provides assisted living and memory care.
“Seth has been an excellent addition to our team at Colvin Run,” said Kelly Johnson, an IntegraCare Area General Manager. “He is passionate about enhancing the lives of our residents through a personalized, one-on-one approach — attending to each individual’s needs and providing comfort and reassurance to them and their families. His nursing background, combined with his experience as a tour guide years ago, has shaped him into an excellent communicator with both our team and residents.”
His journey to Colvin Run followed an interesting path. Before transitioning into healthcare, Wirekoh worked for a tour company in Ghana, West Africa, after earning his bachelor’s degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management. His early career in the tourism industry provided him with valuable skills in customer service, communication, and cultural awareness — qualities that have seamlessly translated into his work in healthcare and senior living.
“My early career as a tour coordinator and guide stemmed from a passion for storytelling, connecting with people and managing logistics to create memorable experiences,” Wirekoh said. “While I loved what I did as a tour coordinator, I realized that my true calling lay in serving others in a more profound and lasting way.”
His career path evolved amid challenging circumstances.
“A pivotal moment came when I cared for a loved one during a health crisis, which ignited my passion for patient care and advocacy,” Wirekoh said. “This experience inspired me to pursue nursing, where I could combine my skills in communication, organization and empathy to support individuals during their most vulnerable moments.
“Moving into healthcare has been incredibly fulfilling, allowing me to create not just enriching experiences, but also life-changing support and care for those in need. We apply this same approach and principles while improving lives of our seniors at The Residence at Colvin Run.”
