Wendy Traff-Barrow Brings 37 Years of Experience and a Heart for Advocacy, Compassion
QUEENSTOWN, Maryland — For Wendy Traff-Barrow, caring for seniors isn’t just a job. It’s a lifelong passion that started at the age of 18.
Now, with an impressive 37 years of healthcare experience, Traff-Barrow fronts the Queenstown Landing team in her role as the senior living community’s Executive Operations Officer. Her path to this leadership role is a testament to her deep commitment to senior care and her belief that every resident deserves the highest level of compassion and advocacy.
“I absolutely love working with the senior population,” Traff-Barrow said. “Knowing that I have advocated for the seniors and provided the highest level of care possible is incredibly rewarding at the end of each day. Senior care is more than a career. It’s a calling.”
Stepping into her position as Executive Operations Officer at Queenstown Landing felt like a natural progression for Traff-Barrow, who previously served as LifeStories Director at Candle Light Cove — another IntegraCare-operated senior living community located in nearby Easton, Maryland.
“I had the opportunity to learn the IntegraCare standards, procedures and processes, which in turn helped with training for my new position as an EOO,” Traff-Barrow said of her nearly two years at Candle Light Cove.
Queenstown Landing is a state-of-the-art assisted living and memory care community located adjacent to the University of Maryland Shore Regional Health Complex in Queen Anne’s County.
“My immediate goal is to build strong relationships with residents, families and staff,” Traff-Barrow said. “I want residents at Queenstown Landing to feel happy with their care and staff to feel proud to come to work every day. Long term, my goal is to reach full occupancy with a waiting list, and to become the top-recommended senior living community in the area.”
IntegraCare Area General Manager Kelly Johnson is confident that Traff-Barrow’s vision, energy and extensive experience will bring tremendous value to both residents and team members at Queenstown Landing.
“Wendy brings a wonderful blend of leadership and compassion to her work,” said Johnson, who oversees IntegraCare communities across Maryland, Virginia, and Eastern Pennsylvania. “Her time at Candle Light Cove showcased her deep commitment to the residents, and I have no doubt she’ll bring that same passion and dedication to Queenstown Landing. She’s a perfect fit for this community.”
Traff-Barrow’s journey in senior living began in the dietary department of a long-term care facility when she was a teenager. Curious to see if healthcare was the right fit for her, she quickly found herself drawn to the residents, visiting them in her free time and building relationships that fueled her desire to do more.
“Back then, I wanted to see if this was going to be something I liked in terms of healthcare and senior care,” Traff-Barrow said. “I ended up loving it, and in my spare time I would always go and visit the senior residents. I knew right away that healthcare and senior care was my passion.”
Traff-Barrow credits much of her enthusiasm to the dedicated team at Queenstown Landing. “I’m incredibly grateful to work alongside such a compassionate, professional team — one that shows up every day with our residents’ wellbeing as their top priority,” she said.
