Siblings Bring Family-Oriented Approach to The Residence at Presque Isle Bay
ERIE, Pa. – Treating senior residents like family comes naturally to two sets of sisters on the team at The Residence at Presque Isle Bay.
Stephanie and Amber Mysnyk, along with Cheyenne and Prialle Miller, have found their calling in a nurturing environment where they dedicate their time and hearts to improving the lives of seniors in the IntegraCare community. Sisterly advice or encouragement on the job has created a win-win situation for the siblings, their fellow team members, and the residents.
“The best thing about working with my sister is always having someone to talk to both in and out of work,” said Stephanie Mysnyk, a Resident Wellness Associate who has nearly seven years of experience in the community. “If I’m ever having a problem, I can pick her brain for solutions. My sister is always there for me.”
Located near Lake Erie, one of the most amazing natural resources in the eastern United States, The Residence at Presque Isle Bay provides personal care, memory care and respite care. The community features 53 personal care units and 16 memory care units.
The tight-knit team fosters a friendly and nurturing environment – intangibles that the pairs of sisters appreciate. The Residence at Presque Isle Bay offers many monthly activities for residents, and the community features modern amenities as well as a panoramic view of the bay.
All team members are close, but having family has impacted the siblings’ approach.
“My sister and I are very close,” said Amber Mysnyk, a Medication Associate since September 2022. “She’s someone I can go to about anything. It’s nice to be able to take care of our residents together. Helping our senior residents live a better life is something we strongly believe in.”
The Millers have a similar approach to their roles as Medication Associates at The Residence at Presque Isle Bay. The family ties only make their work more special.
“The best thing about working with my sister is knowing that I can rely on her,” said Cheyenne Miller, who has been part of the team since October 2020. “It gives me a sense of comfort and I know if I can count on anyone, it would be my sister. She’s a great worker and goes above and beyond the call for the residents.”
Prialle Miller said she and her sister work well together. They especially appreciate their time spent with residents in LifeStories.
“My sister knows the residents very well and she’s a great worker,” Prialle Miller said. “If I have a question, I can always go to her for advice or she can always come to me and we can figure it out together. My sister and I are very close and I really appreciate working with her. We work great together as a team.”
Each set of sisters has a special memory of spending a particular shift together. For the Millers, it involved their time at The Residence at Presque Isle Bay during the recent solar eclipse.
“That was something cool that I’ll never forget,” Prialle Miller said.
“We were able to view it at work with the residents,” Cheyenne Miller said. “It was an amazing experience.”
The Mysnyk’s had an opportunity to bond at the senior living community a few weeks before the birth of Stephanie’s child.
“I was eight months pregnant and it was the day before my baby shower,” Stephanie Mysnyk said. “She picked up the third shift with me so I had help.”
“Working that third shift together while my sister was eight months pregnant is a special memory for both of us,” Amber Mysnyk said.
The family-oriented team at The Residence at Presque Isle Bay is dedicated to improving the lives of senior residents. The Miller and Mysnyk sisters exemplify this philosophy.
“Both pairs of sisters have found their calling in this nurturing environment, where they dedicate their time and hearts to treating every resident like family,” Executive Operations Officer Nathan Maietta said. “Their bonds of sisterhood enhance their teamwork, creating a supportive and compassionate space for the senior residents they care for.
“Whether it’s organizing activities, assisting with daily routines, or simply sharing a heartfelt conversation, Stephanie, Amber, Cheyenne, and Prialle bring a touch of familial love to everything they do, making The Residence at Presque Isle Bay a true home for its residents.”
