ERIE, Pa. – The Residence at Presque Isle Bay earned IntegraCare’s Gold Level Award for its prompt handling of residents’ callbell requests during the fourth quarter of 2024.
When a resident needs assistance, whether it’s for routine help or an emergency, they can push a pendant they carry on them. During the quarter, The Residence at Presque Isle Bay team responded in person to each call in an average of 2 minutes, 18 seconds to attain Gold Level status for a second consecutive quarter.
The callbell systems handle more than potential crisis situations. The callbell also is the residents’ connection to the team for assistance with more routine needs.
“Callbells aren’t just about emergencies,” said Larry Rouvelas, CEO of IntegraCare. “They are for a wide variety of daily needs ranging from dressing, moving place to place, or even getting a glass of water. We encourage our residents to ring the callbell when they need us.”
“The Residence at Presque Isle Bay assisted living and personal care residents rang the callbell 140 times per day, on average, and the team answered those calls quickly and reliably,” Rouvelas said. “Our communities offer an enjoyable quality of life, and when you need help, we’ll be there for you. Few things deliver on that promise more vividly than, when a resident pushes a call button for help, that we respond quickly and reliably. It’s about resident safety. And it’s about resident respect.”
A recent U.S. News & World Report survey highlighted this commitment to respect and responsiveness. As part of its annual Best of Senior Living recognition, the renowned publication gathered insights from residents and family members across 3,500 senior living communities nationwide, including 17 IntegraCare communities. The feedback underscored the dedication to quality care and the peace of mind that comes from knowing help is always within reach.
“The Residence at Presque Isle Bay has a vibrant, young staff who lift the residents up by their enthusiasm, youthful energy and special comments,” Carolyn, whose loved one is a resident, responded in the U.S. News survey. “The staff and atmosphere are awesome. The individual (callbell) watches each resident wears is No. 1 in terms of keeping them ALL SAFE!! The callbell can be pressed if something is needed, and it will INSTANTLY ALERT staff if someone falls. The staff closest to the resident who needs attention immediately goes to assist the resident who fell and will begin assessing the situation.”
Shannon, who has family at The Residence at Presque Isle Bay, also appreciated the level of care residents receive in the senior living community.
“I would highly recommend The Residence at Presque Isle Bay to anyone,” Shannon said in the U.S. News survey. “The staff and leadership team are ‘one of a kind’ and everyone works together as a team to support our loved ones. They’ve become like family.”
The community wants its families to know its callbell response performance. So, it posts on its website a daily update: Yesterday’s Callbell Response Times.
