Martha Thomas has lived in senior living community for 17 years
BEDFORD, Pa. – A harmonica player, dedicated volunteer and woman of strong faith, Martha Thomas celebrated her 100th birthday at Colonial Courtyard at Bedford.
Thomas turned 100 on Jan. 7 and was honored the next day at the senior living community located at 220 Donahue Manor Road in Bedford.
“A very special lady celebrated a very special 100th birthday with us,” said Nanette Bankes, Lifestyles Coordinator at Colonial Courtyard at Bedford. “Martha graciously accepted all the love and kindness from many of her friends and family.”
“Martha always has kept her faith first, family second and focused on living a life all can be proud of,” Bankes said.
Thomas, who grew up in Saxton, Bedford County, but spent much of her adult life in Pittsburgh, has resided at Colonial Courtyard at Bedford for 17 years. She currently serves as Resident Council President and is involved in the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), as she plays the harmonica and sings each week on the RSVP outings.
“She truly is young at heart,” Bankes said. “She is a friend to all. Colonial Courtyard at Bedford thanks Martha for her spirit, her kindness and her being such a special and caring person.”
