Senior Living Community Enjoys Tasty Observance of National Maple Syrup Day
GREENSBURG, Pa. – Newhaven Court at Lindwood celebrated National Maple Syrup Day in appropriate fashion, with a pancake and waffle luncheon for residents on Dec. 17.
Approximately 65 residents of the senior living and memory care community in Greensburg attended the gathering.
“We love doing these events because it gets everyone together and we celebrate a special day with entertainment and great food,” said Carly Glasgow, LifeStages Director at Newhaven Court at Lindwood. “Our residents love all the hype in advance of the event, and of course, the delicious food.”
Local musician Paul Eisert entertained residents during the National Maple Syrup Day lunch at Newhaven Court at Lindwood on Dec. 17.
National Maple Syrup Day celebrates “one of nature’s finest creations: maple syrup,” according to Awarenessdays.com. “This annual observance is a time to savor the rich and natural flavors of maple syrup and appreciate the hard work that goes into its production.”
Newhaven Court at Lindwood did its part. “Our residents all seemed to have a great time and enjoyed having breakfast for lunch,” Glasgow said.
Local musician Paul Eisert performed during the luncheon. Eisert is a favorite among residents and team members.
The LifeStages, LifeStories and Dining Experience teams worked hand-in-hand, transforming the dining room into a festive space where the scent of maple syrup hung in the air as residents enjoyed their pancakes and waffles.
“Our National Maple Syrup Day-themed lunch is just one of similarly-themed events our team plans so that our residents have opportunities to participate in enjoyable and vibrant activities,” Glasgow said. “One of our most popular events was Oktoberfest. We had the dining room decorated and served delicious German dishes. The residents also love to get up and dance to the music and clap along.”
The Newhaven Court at Lindwood team certainly put a figurative spotlight on National Maple Syrup Day. During the holiday season, sometimes the sweetest moments come from unexpected places — especially when they’re served with extra syrup.
