Senior Living Community Residents’ Calls Answered on Average in 2-Minutes, 19-Seconds
TYRONE, Pa. – Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone’s prompt handling of callbells earned it IntegraCare’s Gold Level Award in the first quarter of 2024.
When a resident needs assistance, whether it’s for routine help or an emergency, they can push a pendant they carry on them. During the quarter, the Tyrone team responded in person to each call in an average 2 minutes, 19 seconds.
“When a resident moves into one of our communities, we make a core promise,” said Larry Rouvelas, Chief Executive Officer of Pittsburgh-based IntegraCare, which operates Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone. “Yes, we’ll offer an enjoyable quality-of-life. And, when you need help, we’ll be there for you.”
Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone Executive Operations Officer Dawn Karlheim attributed the Gold Level Award to her team’s unwavering dedication to enhancing residents’ lives.
“Earning a Gold Level Award just shows the commitment of our entire team to improving the lives of our residents,” Karlheim said. “Our team earned the Silver Award in the fourth quarter in 2023 and everyone was determined to take it up a notch and earn the Gold. This is a win-win for our team and our residents.”
“Our residents know they can rely on our team to assist them when they push the callbell,” Karlheim added. “They know that help is just a couple minutes away, whether it is an emergency or something as simple as them needing a glass of water to take their medicine. The callbell honor puts it into perspective just how quickly our team can get there to assist the residents.”
Rouvelas appreciated the Tyrone team’s living up to a promise made a few months ago.
“When I presented the Tyrone team its Silver Level Achievement certificate for last year’s fourth quarter, Dawn Karlheim said, ‘Next quarter, we’re going to get the Gold,’” Rouvelas said. “Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone delivered on their word.” Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone earns Silver Level Award
Resident Wellness Director Heather Regitz said quick and reliable callbell responses are the standard at Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone.
“Our team and our residents are like a family. We truly care about each other, and as part of a family, we want to assist them when they are in need,” Regitz said. “Answering the callbell in a timely and efficient manner is top priority on our team.”
The callbell system isn’t only about emergencies. The Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone team responds to wide range of the residents’ daily needs, such as dressing or moving from place-to-place.
The community wants its families to know every day its callbell response performance. So it posts on its website a daily update: Yesterday’s Callbell Response Times. “Families should have peace-of-mind that, when their loved one needs help, we’re there quickly and reliably,” Rouvelas said.
“A senior living community should be beautiful, yes. But more importantly, when you need help it should be there for you, quickly and reliably,” Rouvelas said. “The seniors at Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone get that every day.”
“Great care is built upon a capable team and strong systems. Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone has both,” Rouvelas added.
